Review of Inner Reflection, 23rd November 09:

"This is "Inner Reflection", the debut album from Oxford-based British rockers 14ten, who waste no time in grabbing the listener's attention with opening track "Raw", consisting of equal-parts attitude and rock swagger, especially in singer Rachel's vocals. Elsewhere on the album, tracks such as "Save You", "Social Identity" and highlight "Why?" demonstrate the band's ability to take their collective classic rock and metal influences and channel them into something a little more contemporary, rather than just sounding like a thousand bands you've heard before. Throughout the album, there's a real sense of confidence in 14ten's sound, with singer Rachel never holding back, sounding much like an english Doro Pesch at times and pushing everything up a level. A good start then, for 14ten.
This would appeal to fans of Doro, Heart, and 10,000 Maniacs.

Rating : 75/100"

Review of our performance in the Semi-Finals of the Surface Unsigned Festival at The Asylum, Birmingham, 7th August 09:

"The second band of the evening was Oxford based four-piece 14ten. Hard and aggressive Metal cut-though with fast riffs and heavy percussion – it’s Metal as it should be done. Some furious and well orchestrated kick drum patterns lead by a powerful driving lead vocal from singer Rachel. There is a real freshness and sense of energy in their music that distinguishes it as something special and it should see them do well in the future."

Review of our performance in Round 1 of the Surface Unsigned Festival at The Flapper, Birmingham, 4th April 09:

"The third band of the night was Oxford based four-piece 14ten. Hard and heavy vocally driven Rock, it’s an intense and exciting sound that has some real potential. Drawing influence from classic and contemporary sources the band has found a fresh, distinctive direction that really works; and combined with their confident and charismatic stage presence it ensured they delivered an excellent performance at The Flapper."

Review of our performance at The Bullingdon Arms, Oxford, 27th March 09:

"Music comes in and out of fashion just like clothes, so when you see a group of people playing music that was fashionable in the late 80’s – early 90’s, you do a double take – much like if you walked past someone wearing legwarmers. So at the Bully this evening I was a little surprised to see something like 14ten, a band who play a brand of female fronted old-school heavy metal – citing Metallica, Aerosmith and Skunk Anansie as their influences. Now, they certainly tick all the boxes – distortion, tick. Pounding double bass drums, tick. Drop-D tuning, tick. On the face of it there’s everything here to make a metal band that works, but if I’m being honest, it sounded lost. Perhaps it was the sparsely populated venue so early on in the evening, or maybe because they seem to be flying the retro-metal flag all by themselves. However, lead-singer Rachel’s voice is certainly powerful. Boy, that woman’s got lungs."
